West Midlands Police Chief Superintendent Mark Payne and his team at West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot in Highgate on Tuesday night (15/05).
It’s understood the man was on Stratford Place, before 11pm when he was shot. Minutes later ambulance staff treating a patient near Belgrave Interchange in Balsall Heath, reported a man being presented to them with a gunshot wound to his chest.
The man, understood to be in his 20s and from Small Heath, was taken to hospital but pronounced dead this morning (16/05).
West Midlands Police Chief Superintendent Mark Payne is appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
He said: “We understand the victim was in or near Stratford Place last night when he was shot. The details are unclear at this early stage and I would appeal to anyone who was at the location and may have heard and seen anything to get in touch.”
