The Vanguard is the brainchild of cocktail expert Samuel Boulton, he opens his unique new venture in collaboration with Jewellery Quarter bar and kitchen 1000 trades today.
Boulton aims to serve the bar-dwelling folk of Birmingham something a little different. He dreams that punters will leave The Vanguard always having tried something new. You’ll find no beer or wine on the menu as he promises to strictly serve drinks with character. All offerings have been skilfully considered and use only the best produce.
Setting itself aside from the crowd, the space will also perform as Birmingham’s first meadery. The beverage which has its origins dating back thousands of years is the premier long drink, made of honey, fruits and spices it tantalises the sweet-tooth and provides much versatility. The Vanguard will push popularity of the long forgotten beverage and rightly so. Those first through the doors will be especially impressed by the aptly named ‘Bartender’s Handshake’ – a mixture of Gosnell’s Mead, Fernet Branca, Orgeat Syrup and Lime Juice.
In addition, what’s oh-so special about this new JQ addition is its lack of pretence. Those who love cocktails can enjoy quality mixes, at home, in a relaxed atmosphere, without the expectation of dressing to the nines and the pressure of pristine surroundings. Classic hip-hop will provide the soundtrack to your evening here. We can’t wait to welcome this quirky inclusion to the city.
