Passengers were escorted off the Oblivion ride at Alton Towers Theme Park this afternoon (25/07) after it came to a halt 180 feet in the air.
A spokesman from Alton Towers Theme Park, said: ‘This afternoon Oblivion stopped after a sensor on the ride detected a minor technical fault.
‘The ride performed exactly as it is designed to do. In line with our well-rehearsed procedures, guests were assisted from the ride. At no point was guest safety compromised.’
The Oblivion ride is less than 100 yards away from the Smiler rollercoaster – where 16 people injured in June 2015.
