West Midlands Police has launched an appeal to find a man after an elderly woman was dragged to the ground in a robbery in Handsworth.

The 72-year-old was walking along Stafford Road when a man grabbed for her handbag just after 11am on Tuesday (30/07).

The woman was pulled to the ground and suffered a fractured bone in her shoulder as the thief made off with cash, bank cards, house keys and a mobile phone.

Officers have released the CCTV footage of the shocking attack in an attempt to identify the man responsible.

Sergeant Dave Bebb, from force CID, said: “The victim was flung to the ground and then just left there injured.

“We are determined to catch this robber and are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, or saw him either before or after the attack.”
