Western Power Distribution has joined WhatsApp to allow its customers to report power cuts quickly, easily and around the clock.

The electricity distribution network operator for the Midlands, South West and Wales has become the first operator in the UK to offer the service. The account will be managed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by staff at their Contact Centre in Cardiff.

Chris Griffiths, WPD Contact Centre Manager, said: “Our top priority is to provide a safe, efficient and cost effective service to our customers.

“As part of this, we want to make it as simple as possible for customers to get in touch and to get the answers they need. By joining the Whatsapp community, we are providing another channel for people to contact us if they are experiencing a power cut or have a query about our service.”

In addition to WhatsApp, customers can also contact Western Power Distribution using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, webchat, apps such as their Power Cut Reporter app, or by telephone.
