Sparkhill boy dies following a grenade attack in Sweden

-

Yuusuf Warsame, aged 8, from Sparkhill, has sadly died following a grenade attack in Sweden in the early hours of Monday morning (22/08).

Emergency services were called an apartment building in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, at around 3AM, after a grenade was thrown into an apartment.

At least five children and several adults were inside at the time. Yuusuf was taken to hospital with serious injuries and sadly died shortly after arrival.

Yuusuf was sleeping in the living room of the apartment in the Biskopsgarten area, where he was visiting relatives.

Gothenburg Police have described the attack as “despicable and abhorrent” and are looking at links to a previous shooting incident.

A police spokesman Thomas Fuxborg, told a local news site that the death of the little boy was being investigated as murder.

Yuusuf was born and raised in Sparkhill after his parents moved to the area in 2001. His father owns a meat and grocery shop in Whitmore Road.
