Hooray! National Doughnut Week is here on May 11th, and we know what you’re all thinking: “At last!”, right? Maybe you didn’t realise, but his has been a mouth-watering, sugar-indulgence of a thing since 1991, and started as a fund-raiser for The Children’s Trust, but if there ever was an excuse to talk about doughnut shops in town, this is it! (Although, do we really need an excuse?)

1. Krispy Kreme – Selfridges in the Bull Ring
These guys have been making their signature doughnuts all over the world since 1937. This branch in the town centre scores a pretty impressive 4.5 on TripAdvisor, so… Chocolate Dreamcake, anyone?
2. Medicine Bakery – New Street
An artisan bakery and café with a unique gallery and exhibition space specialising in all things delicious, including their amazing cronuts – a fabulous croissant/doughnut combination invented in New York City in 2013.
3. Laghi’s Deli – Islington Row, Near Five Ways
Everything Italian can be found in this award-winning restaurant, deli and take-away. Their extensive range of doughnuts are prepared and cooked every day on the premises and are guaranteed to make your mouth water.
4. Tim Hortons – New Street
Founded in 1964, and with over 2000 outlets in Canada, Tim Hortons finally made its way to the UK in 2017, starting right here in Birmingham! Famous for all kinds of sandwiches, beverages and baked goods, if you can’t make up your mind, the Timbits (mini-doughnut selection) are legendary!
5. The Steamhouse – Temple Row
If you thought this place was all about the bagels you might be very pleasantly surprised to discover their doughnuts and pastries. Next time you’re passing why not pop in and treat yourself to a cheeky Oreo Mousse Doughnut? You know you want to!
