We’ve all laughed and cried watching Queer Eye, the hit Netflix reboot where five gay men transform the lives of ordinary people by offering tips on style, interior decorating, life coaching, hair and beauty, and also showing them what an avocado is (does Antoni do anything?).
Tan France is the stylish heart of the show and the only Brit in the group and he is coming to Birmingham! Tan will be in Birmingham on Thursday 20th June (a changed date from previously planned) to celebrate the publication of his memoir, Naturally Tan.
This tour marks Tan’s first public appearances in the UK and proves to be a great night. It’s a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from Tan and experience his trademark wit, humour, and compassion first hand. Tan will talk about what it was like to grow up gay in a traditional South Asian family as well as being one of the few people of colour in South Yorkshire. You will hear about how he found his voice and his style. He’ll share his coming of age, coming out, and coming to find the love of his life – a Mormon cowboy from Salt Lake City. Not to mention lots of stories from behind the scenes of Queer Eye!
Naturally Tan is a memoir in the form of a collection of humorous and poignant personal essays, peppered with real life style advice, funny lists and truisms Tan lives by. In his own words, ‘The book is meant to spread joy, personal acceptance, and, most of all, understanding. Each of us is living our own private journey, and the more we know about each other, the healthier and happier the world will be.’ Tan will be signing copies of his book after the event.
This event will be a funny and heart-warming show. If you love Queer Eye, feel an affinity to Tan, or simply want to learn how to do a proper French Tuck from the master, then come along to this show. The event will be hosted by the hilarious Sarah Millican. Tickets cost between £21.50 and £32.50.
