Emergency services were called to Mill Farm Road in Harborne, at around 10:30AM this morning (12/08), to reports of a collision.
On arrival, crews found a taxi driver trapped in his vehicle after a collision with a lorry. Firefighters, from Bournbrook and Woodgate Valley Fire Station, used Holmatro cutting gear to take the roof off the vehicle.
Paramedics treated the driver on the scene before he was taken to nearby QE Hospital for treatment – his condition is not believed to be life threatening. Three passengers, who were travelling in the taxi, were given precautionary treatment on the scene.
Police cordoned off Quinton Road between Harborne Lane and Poole Crescent whilst crews dealt with the incident.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Fire Service, said: “Crews used specialist equipment to remove the roof from the taxi because the driver was trapped.
“He was taken to hospital and three passengers were given precautionary checks at the scene by the ambulance service.”
