On 12th May the Birmingham’s o2 Academy invites an audience to an evening with DEA agents Javier Pena and Steve Murphy, who were key players in the capturing of crime king-pins Pablo Escobar and the Cali Cartel. Their stories gained much intrigue around the world, later culminating in a fiercely successful TV series.

The award-winning show focuses on the rise of cocaine trade in the late eighties, following the famed gang of drug-lords, who, at the height of their reign, controlled 90% of the world’s entire market of the class A drug. The show documents how civilians, military, governments and the police, including Pena and Murphy, worked together and sometimes in conflict, in order to take down the violent group.

Fans of the Netflix Original and those interested in the history surrounding the group’s life and demise won’t want to miss the unique talk; which will see the two divulge information never before featured in the programme. The one-off event will also give audience members the chance to put questions to the law enforcement responsible for the gang’s arrest during a time when America was battling a huge ‘War on Drugs’.
