Birmingham’s food scene is booming, with so many new restaurants and old favourites that trying to visit them all can soon put a huge dent in your wallet. Luckily for you, there are lots of membership schemes, cards and apps to help save you some cash while still supporting your favourite foodie spots.
Independent Birmingham is perhaps the best known and most widely used membership scheme in the city. Buy a card for just £15 for a year of membership (or £20 for two) and get exclusive deals and discounts at over 100 Birmingham independent retailers. Foodie discounts include 10% of food at Arch 13, 10% off burgers at Meat Shack and 15% off the bill at Baked in Brick, to name just a few.
Looking for a membership card that gives back? Become a member of LoveBrum. The charity supports hidden gem projects all over the city, and members get a loyalty card to claim deals. Food offers include 10% off the bill at Zen Metro or 10% off the bill at Aria. At The Canal House, you can choose to get 10% off your bill, or to have 10% of the total bill automatically donated to LoveBrum.
While not strictly a membership scheme, Bookatable can help you find great deals on food. Owned by Michelin, the website and app is a reservations service with a difference. As well as booking tables, Bookatable is a database of offers and discounts. Lots of Birmingham based chain restaurants are listed and deals change regularly. Look out for ‘Star Deals’ which offer something special. Current Brummie Star Deals include 2 courses for £11.95 at Brown’s Brasserie and 3 courses and a glass of prosecco for £26.50 at Gaucho.
Use is a brand-new app offering discounts on food and leisure. This clever little app uses location services to let you about deals near you. If you let it, it can even send you push notifications to let you know there’s a hot deal nearby. Show the app to claim your discount, and you can even keep track of how much you’ve saved. Unlike most nationwide apps, Use has paired up with lots of indie business as well as chains to offer discounts at cafes, restaurants and food shops.
Load up your wallet, and get downloading the apps and start saving while you’re out enjoying all that Birmingham has to offer.
