Last night BBC Radio 1’s MistaJam and Huw Stephens will announce the line-up for the BBC Music Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Hull and there are two BBC WM Introducing acts who have been chosen – both from Brum.

Grime artist Scorpz and two piece Superfood – both from Birmingham have been chosen to play on the Introducing stage are on Saturday 27th May.

BBC WM’s Louise Brierley said: “Introducing shows across BBC local radio submit two acts for Radio 1 Big Weekend so to get both of ours chosen is testament to how strong the West Midlands music scene is right now.”

BBC WM presenters Louise Brierley and Jack Parker have been championing both acts on their BBC WM Introducing show (Saturdays 20:00 BBC WM 95.6.)

Commenting about Scorpz, Louise said: “He is the name on everyone’s lips when it comes to the next breakout from Birmingham’s busy grime scene. The lyricism that propels his music forward is full of knock-out punch lines and vivid picutres painted of his life in the West Midlands.”

Talking about Superfood, presenter Jack Parker said: “They are One of Birmingham’s most beloved bands in recent times. They have a special place in a lot of indie kids hearts due to their deliriously upbeat guitar pop. They start a party on every stage they play.”
