University Of Birmingham Students Take On 8000 Mile Virtual Trip To Tokyo

-

In honour of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games, 4 of the University Of Birminghams finest clubs have teamed up to take on an 8000 mile trip to Tokyo from Birmingham.

All the money raised via their just giving page will go to the charity Refuge.

‘Refuge is committed to a world where domestic violence and violence against women and girls is not tolerated and where women and children can live in safety.

We aim to empower women and children to rebuild their lives, free from violence and fear. We provide a range of life-saving and life-changing services, and a voice for the voiceless.’

On their JustGiving page, UOB say ‘We believe the support that refuge provide is extremely important for the lives of women and children who experience domestic violence.

One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. Refuge supports around 6,000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence. By kindly sponsoring us today you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence.’

We think this is a fantastic cause and well worth the support – please think about lending your support and visit their JustGiving page right here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/uob-stsb?fbclid=IwAR21vSGCj2y1i5WFbLIucWqmUwZty0riJTtJ1nPDvhKGtCViFfDJuWB4DO8
