Welcome to the Age of Aquarius: Hair the Musical

-

The hotly-anticipated 50th Anniversary tour of legendary Rock Musical ‘Hair’ is coming to the Alexandra Theatre.

Originally breaking new ground in musical theatre by using a racially integrated cast and defining the genre of ‘rock musical,’ Hair tells the story of the ‘tribe’, a group of politically active hippies living a bohemian life of the ‘Age of Aquarius’ in New York City and struggling against conscription into the Vietnam War. Claude, Berger, their roommate Sheila and their friends struggle to balance their lives and rebellion against the war with society and their conservative parents. United in song, they question authority and the American flag.

Winner of the 2018 WhatsOnStage Award and direct from a sell-out London run, the 50 Anniversary production promises to burst in full psychedelic glory, with a Grammy award-winning score featuring hits such as ‘Aquarius’, ‘Let the Sun Shine In’ and ‘Good Morning Starshine.’ Starring Dancing on Ice Winner Jake Quickenden as Berger, Daisy Wood-Davis (Hollyoaks/ Dreamboats & Petticoats) as Sheila and Marcus Collins (X-Factor Finalist/ Kinky Boots) as Hud and presented by Aria Entertainment, Hope Mill Theatre and Senbla, Hair celebrates and affirms life, freedom and equality.

Hair will be performed at The Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham from Monday 29 April – Saturday 4 May, with the show lasting approximately 2 hrs 30 mins including an interval.
