Woman charged following Perry Barr murder

Detectives investigating the death of Mark Lloyd have charged a woman with murder.

Mr Lloyd was left in a critical condition after being assaulted during a street robbery in Aldridge Road, Perry Barr, at around 11.10pm on Saturday 21 September.

The 39-year-old from Kingstanding sadly died in hospital last Sunday (29 September).

Shannon Cronin, aged 23 from Clyde Street, Cradley Heath was charged with murder this afternoon (Wednesday 2 October) and will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Thursday 3 October).

A 26-year-old man remanded in custody accused of robbery will also be re-questioned in relation to Mr Lloyd’s murder.

West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Jim Church from force CID, said:

“This was initially treated as a robbery but we’re clearly now looking at a murder enquiry as Mr Lloyd sadly died from his injuries.

“I’d appeal for anyone who saw what happened or anyone acting suspiciously to call us as they may have important information.”
