A 23-year-old man who was left in a critical condition following an attack in Maypole sadly died in hospital yesterday (22/09).
He was attacked on Alcester Road South at around 4.40pm on Thursday (19/09) after row broke out with occupants of a passing car.
One man has been charged in connection with the investigation and appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday (21/09) charged with wounding.
West Midlands Police are continuing to investigate the assault and believe there were two people involved.
Det Insp Stuart Mobberley, from Homicide department, said: “This is now a murder enquiry, and our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones at this tragic time.
“We have charged one person in connection with what happened and that charge will be reviewed in due course.
“This is still very much an active investigation, and I’d appeal to anyone who was involved in what happened to hand themselves in before we arrest them.
“If anyone saw what happened and has not yet spoken to police, we need to hear from them as soon as possible.”
