This feel-good film, with one of the most notable soundtracks in the world turns 40 this year and there will be celebrations taking place all-year round to mark this special occasion. The Electric Cinema is one of the many showcasing the classic, taking us all back to 1958 when Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) and Danny (John Travolta) first found love! And you won’t have to wait long as its all kicking off this weekend (21 & 22/04) .
Having shared a brief romance during the school break the two head back to Rydell High reminiscing about those summer nights spent on the beach together. Danny bragging to his friends the T-Birds and Sandy softly re-calling events to her newly-found girl gang The Pink Ladies. When they find out they are attending the same school and Sandy discovers Danny has been boasting about their time spent together he goes all out in an all-singing, all-dancing effort to win his sweet-heart back.
Many of us will have spent our younger years belting out the hits that helped gain the film its iconic status so it will be a nostalgic treat for those purchasing tickets.
