Wesley Streete, 20, who was convicted on 5th August of the rape and murder of Keeley Bunker and the rape and sexual assault of three other victims was sentenced today at Stafford Crown Court to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 30 years. Read the full release by CPS below:
Mark Paul of the CPS said: “Throughout the investigation and trial, Wesley Streete repeatedly lied to the police and Ms Bunker’s family in a bid to cover up his violent crimes, but the Crown Prosecution Service worked alongside Staffordshire Police to build a compelling case against him.
“We carefully considered thousands of pages of expert evidence including CCTV, mobile phone records, DNA forensics and witness testimonies to present a strong prosecution case. After hearing the evidence, the jury saw through his lies and convicted him of the rape and murder of Keeley Bunker.
“We recognise the enormity of the loss of Keeley Bunker and extend heartfelt sympathies to her family and friends.
“I would also like to thank the other three young victims and their families for their support in bringing this case to trial and ensuring the defendant faces justice. Following his sentence today of detention for life with a minimum term of 30 years, Wesley Streete will now face the consequences of his actions.”
