Dogs love bank holidays too! While we are all hoping for some more of that early summer sun, our furry canine friends will be hoping to share the early summer fun too. Luckily for everyone there is a feast of tail-waggingly good choices coming up this weekend for those of us who want to spend some extra quality time with a special four-legged friend.
1Woofstock (Monday May 27, 2pm, Prince of Wales, Moseley)
A lazy afternoon and evening of DJs, live music and liquid refreshments, all raising money for man’s best friend. The event will be host to a great variety of local and visiting bands and musicians including Birmingham’s own blues legends Vincent Flatts Final Drive. There’s a huge garden, sunshine (we hope), beer, music, raffle prizes and of course – doggos! Free entry, suggested donation to doggie charities.
2Sausage Dog Tea Party (Monday May 27th, 2pm, The Sausage Dog Social, Shard End)
A fabulous fun-filled day out for owners, sausage dogs and their families, raising money for The RED Foundation, a registered charity that rescues and rehomes Dachshunds of all ages. There are drinks, cakes, a big bouncy castle and all that kind of thing, along with a nice secure sausage paddock, perfect for doggie mingling!
3The Agria Dog Walk (Saturday May 25th, 10am, Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield)
An international event set to unite thousands of paws in six countries, all on one day. This annual event takes place throughout Europe and includes various locations across the UK. The aim is to raise money for canine rehoming organisations and bring together people who simply love dogs!
4Reactive dog walk (Sunday May 26th, 9.30am, Sheldon Country Park)
Dogs of all shapes and sizes get to run off lead together, or on a lead with the humans in their midst! This may be the only dog-walking social group in town that doesn’t require dog-ownership as anyone is welcome to join the walk, although a love of dogs is pretty much a minimum requirement.
