Boy sadly dies following a collision in Erdington.

PS Chris Ridge, from the West Midlands Police Collision Investigation Unit, is appealing for information after a boy lost his life following a collision in Erdington on Monday (15/08).

The boy, aged 8, was cycling along Wilton Road, at around 3.15PM, when he was in collision with a bus.

Emergency services were called and paramedics treated the boy who was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with critical injuries, but despite their best efforts he sadly died later that day.

The driver of the bus was spoken to at the scene and officers continue to make enquiries into the collision.

PS Chris Ridge, said: “Our thoughts are firmly with the family of the young boy who tragically lost his life yesterday.

“The road is a really busy road and we are sure that there are a number of witnesses who have not yet come forward.

“I am directly appealing to them to get in touch so we can continue to establish the circumstances that surrounded yesterday’s tragic events.

“The family of the young boy are being liaised with by specialist officers and they have asked for their privacy to be respected at this sad time.”
