On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th January, Volunteers from St Mary’s Hospice will be out and about collecting Christmas trees for recycling.
In return for a minimum suggested donation of £10, trees will be collected from your home or office and taken to Birmingham City Council’s household recycling centres, where trees will be turned into compost. This is a great way to avoid any hassle of taking Christmas trees to the local tip by letting St Mary’s Hospice do the hard work instead. By signing up to the scheme people will be helping the Hospice care for people with terminal illnesses within their local communities.
St Mary’s Hospice Fundraising Manager, Hamish Shilliday, said: “This is the third year of our Treecycling scheme and it is an important way that people can support our Hospice and avoid the hassle of the journey to the tip. The annoying nature of pine needles is that they get absolutely everywhere. You can avoid cleaning the car by letting us take the Christmas tree away for you.”
