Around 150 homes were left without power and many were flooded after a large water main burst in Tipton in the early hours of this morning (04/02).
Emergency services were called just before 4:40am to reports of severe flood in the Park Lane West area of Tipton Green, Tipton.
Three people were evacuated from three properties in Severn Close, and thankfully no-one has been reported injured.
Firefighters raced to the scene with the first crew arriving at the scene within 4 minutes. At the height of the incident, around 50 personnel were at the scene, including a water rescue boat crew from our Technical Rescue Unit.
Area Commander Steve Vincent of WMFS said: “Our sympathies are with everyone affected by this incident, which comes shortly after a similar burst main in the area in October.
“One property on Park Lane West has partially collapsed, and we have a gas leak at that address. Also, at 8am, there were around 150 homes in the local area without power.
“We are working closely with Sandwell Council and colleagues from other agencies including the police and utility companies to return the scene to normality as soon as possible. In the meantime, we would ask people to avoid the area.”
