Detective Sergeant Adam Hicklin, from West Midlands Police (WMP) CID is appealing for witnesses after a man was found with life-threatening injuries in the city centre on Tuesday night (23/08).
Emergency services were called to Summer Lane in Newtown, at around 7:55PM, to reports of the stabbing.
On arrival, crews found man with life-threatening injuries – he was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The road has been closed while a forensic examination of the scene is carried out.
Detective Sergeant Hicklin, said: “We’re in the early stages of the investigation but we believe the victim and suspect were known to each other.
“This happened relatively early in the evening last night and there’s a good chance there would have been other people walking or driving past at the time.
“Nobody has been arrested and we’d ask anyone with any information to come forward and contact us as soon as possible.”
