Lorry driver arrested after boy sadly dies in collision on the M6 motorway.

An eight-year-old boy has sadly died following a collision on the M6 southbound on Thursday night (31/05).

Emergency services were dispatched to a collision between a lorry and a red Toyota Yaris car, which is believed to have stopped on the hard shoulder between Junctions 6 (Aston Expressway) and 5, at around 7.30PM.

The boy, from Leicester, was pronounced dead at the scene and a number of other occupants of the car were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The motorway was closed for a number of hours whilst officers from the road was made safe following the collision.

The lorry driver, aged 62, from Hampshire was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting log 2160 of 31 May.
