West Midlands Police CID has issued an appeal for a man they want to speak to after a woman, aged 86, was seriously assaulted in her own home in South Yardley on Tuesday (05/06).
Detective Sergeant Tom Lyons has named Nicholas Mason as a prime suspect after the pensioner was left with broken bones in her neck and back following a suspected burglary attempt in Greenwood at around 6:30AM.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Nicholas Mason, aged 43, is urged to ring 101 or in an emergency call 999. Members of the public are advised to call officers rather than approach him.
DS Lyons said: “An elderly woman was left with nasty injuries in her own home – the place she should feel the safest – and we are determined to find who was responsible.
“It appears that nothing was taken which makes the attack even more disturbing. We have a number of active lines of enquiry and are keen to locate this man as soon as possible.
“I would urge anyone with information which will assist our investigation to contact West Midlands Police on 101; quoting crime reference number 20BE/124765R/18.”
