Police launch an investigation after a man is stabbed and shots are fired in Northfield

West Midlands Police are investigating after a man was stabbed and shots were fired on Kinlet Avenue in Northfield last night (07/03).

Officers were called to the area at around 6.15pm, where a 41-year-old man had been stabbed several times while sat in a black BMW car parked on the road.

He was rushed to hospital with several stab wounds to his arms, chest and legs and remains there today (08/03) in a serious but stable condition.

Soon after the stabbing, shots were fired in the road and investigations are now underway to trace the three offenders, two of whom may have left in a silver car. Fortunately, there were no injuries caused to anyone from the firearm being discharged.

A large cordon remains in place today on Kinlet Avenue and Staple Lodge Road, as enquiries continue.

Sergeant Richard Forrester from the Force CID team, said: “I would ask anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area last night, to speak to us as soon as possible.

“I would also be keen to hear from anyone who has any dashcam footage which could have captured events either before or after the stabbing.

“CCTV and house-to-house enquiries continue today and we will be doing all we can to find those involved.”
