Whether you’re a regular party-goer at the Gay Village in town or if you’ve never been there before, this weekend would be a great time to visit Birmingham’s premier drag club The Nightingale for a fabulous night out to see their featured Saturday night guest, star of RuPaul’s Drag Race (Season 2) – Pandora Boxx!

A self-proclaimed geeky weirdo who is addicted to glitter and making people laugh, Pandora Boxx was one of the very first drag queens to do a one “woman” show in America.  Now she is taking Out of the Boxx on her first ever UK tour and is ready to show the people of Birmingham just what she has in her Boxx!  She follows a dazzling line of RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni to feature at the club, including the show’s first ever Muslim contestant Mercedes Iman Diamond who was there earlier this month.

Celebrating its fiftieth birthday this month, The Nightingale has grown into one of the country’s iconic gay superclubs, attracting huge name headline appearances from stars like Miss Dynamite and Charlie XCX.  Originally on Camp Hill in Digbeth, the club has relocated four times over the years but is the town’s oldest surviving gay venture and came out of the days before decriminalisation when there simply were no gay clubs or bars.  Things have certainly changed since then, and The ‘Gale is now firmly established at the heart of the Midlands LGBTQ community and has become a sizzling entertainment venue with three fantastic floors of dance, glamour, music and special guests.

Pandora Boxx has been one of the real break-out stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race, which is a long-running US reality TV series first aired in America in 2008.  The show has aired 11 seasons to date, has spawned several spin-offs and in 2017 the show’s creator RuPaul was included in the annual Time100 list of the most influential people in the world.  Despite not winning on the show Pandora Boxx was named by Entertainment Weekly as their “America’s Next Drag Superstar” – and now you can decide for yourself when she comes to town this Saturday (April 20th).
