Thousands are expected to flock to Kings Heath this weekend for the annual Kings Heath Street Festival.
The event will see York Road, home to some of Birmingham’s best independents transformed with a live music stage by the award-winning Hare and Hounds, street food from the likes of Esme’s Eats & The Bournville Waffle Company as well as circus workshops from Kings Heath’s very own Circus School, CircusMASH UK.
The free all-day event will take place from midday and run until 8PM.
The line-up for the Hare and Hounds music stage includes some of Birmingham’s best up-and-coming bands, including headliners The Atlantic Players. Keeping the crowds going throughout set performances will be Mazzy Snape on the decks. Other acts include samba band Oya Batucada, Call Me Unique, jazz band Trampette, soul, funk and ska band The Heels and folk-rock band High Horses!
CircusMASH will be providing their free workshops from 1PM – 6PM in aerial acrobatics, balance skills and hand-eye coordination.
Street food vendors on the day include traditional Indian tapas-style street food from Full of Chaat, homecooked Caribbean food from Esme’s Eats, freshly prepared artisan waffles from Bournville Waffle, delicious Dim Sum courtesy of Dim Sum Su, traditional Greek BBQ from Street Souvlaki and food from the island of Mauritius courtesy of Lil Maurice Cuisine.
Many of the local shops, bars, cafes and eateries in Kings Heath will be opening their doors to join in the celebrations and will be providing activities and special street festival treats for all to enjoy.
York Road will be closed throughout September 8th from 6 AM until 10 PM.
