1ICC Cricket World Cup
It only takes place every four years, and 2019 will see England and Wales host the much-anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup from 30th May to 14th July 2019.
Edgbaston Cricket Ground will stage five of this year’s matches including New Zealand v South Africa (19th June), New Zealand v Pakistan (26th June), England v India (30th June), and Bangladesh v India (2nd July).

2Nature Valley Classic Tennis Tournament
The Nature Valley Classic is a Women’s Tennis Association premier level tournament, attracting some of the biggest players from around the world. Previous champions include Billie Jean King, Maria Sharapova, Angelique Kerber and Petra Kvitova, but who will come out on top this year?
The event takes place at Edgbaston Priory Club from 15th-23rd June 2019.

3The Great Birmingham Run
The UK’s second biggest half marathon returns to the streets of Birmingham on Sunday 13th October 2019.
Get in on the action and compete in the 13.1 mile run through the heart of the city, or simply put the date in your diary and turn up to support the runners and associated charities with the rest of the community.

4The British Basketball Cup Finals
The 2020 British Basketball Cup Finals are set to take place at Arena Birmingham on 26th January 2020.
With up to 9,000 fans expected to pack out the venue again this year, along with courtside entertainment including cheerleading, music, and the hugely popular Slam Dunk contest, it’s sure to be an unmissable night. If you fancy some courtside fun, grab your tickets here.
5Vélo Birmingham & Midlands
Vélo Birmingham & Midlands is returning on Sunday 12th May 2019, with an incredible 100-mile and 42-mile closed-road cycle route.
The event will see 17,000 riders make their way through the West Midlands, once again starting in Birmingham’s city centre. The scenic route will take riders through Coventry, Solihull, Warwickshire, Dudley and Sandwell.

6Showjumping & dressage at Horse of the Year Show
The biggest week of the year for equestrian entertainment is coming back to Birmingham. Prepare for edge-of-your-seat speed-rounds as some of the world’s best show jumpers take to the arena, as well as many of the most talented Dressage riders who will be offering up some mesmerising performances. The event takes place at the NEC, Birmingham from 2nd-6th October 2019.
