The Birmingham Music Awards will celebrate the very best of the local music scene with a star-studded line-up of live music and celebrity guests sure to deliver some rock and roll behaviour.
This year’s awards will be hosted by Alex Noble of BBC Music Introducing West Midlands. Indie rock band JAWS will headline the evening. The group, formed in 2012, are often identified as part of the Digbeth based B-Town scene.
Other performers on the night include Sugarthief, Lady Sanity, Relley C, Riscas and X-Factor’s Georgia Burgess. Burgess, who once worked as an office temp in Birmingham, wowed the public and judges alike on X-Factor last year. She’s performed as a support act to the stars, from Little Mix to Dua Lipa.
Birmingham rapper Lady Sanity performed at the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony in Australia last year, while Relley C is another X-Factor alumni from series 13.
Birmingham’s finest will be honoured on the evening. Trevor Burton of The Move is set to take home the Lifetime Achievement Award. Originally from Aston, Burton has been in the music business since the early 1960’s.
Award attendees can also look forward to a guest appearance from local legend, UB40’s Brian Travers. Travers has recently bounced back after major surgery to have two brain tumours removed.
Sponsors include Birmingham Updates, Arcadian, CD Baby, BIMM, ACM, Town Hall Symphony Hall, MAS Records, Purity and mclcreate.
The Birmingham Music Awards works in partnership with BBC Music Introducing in the West Midlands.
