Police investigate after man is shot in Balsall Heath

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation after a man was shot in the face at an address in Balsall Heath, Birmingham last night (30/04).

Officers were called to an address on Edgbaston Road by West Midlands Ambulance Service after a man was found in cardiac arrest with life-threatening injuries.

The 21-year-old was rushed to hospital and underwent emergency surgery. He remains in a critical condition this morning.

A cordon remains in place to allow for a full forensic examination to take place.

Officers have already spoken to a number of witnesses and will be in the area today collecting CCTV and making house to house visits.

The investigation is at an early stage and officers are keeping an open mind regarding the circumstances and motive for the incident.
