Police re-appeal for witnesses following fatal Quinton collision in September

-

Officers investigating a collision which left a motorcyclist dead in Quinton; are urging a key witness to come forward and have released CCTV from the night.

A white van was seen on CCTV in the local area on Sunday 9 September, before and after Ellis Haarhoff’s motorbike hit a tree in Wolverhampton Road.

The 18-year-old rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries but sadly died the following morning.

Officers are still working to establish the circumstances of the collision that took place around 11.45pm and want to trace the driver of the white van who may have information which can assist the investigation. It is believed to have turned into Hagley Road towards Quinton.

PC Mark Crozier, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are determined to find out exactly what occurred in the build-up to the bike hitting the tree.

“Our thoughts remain with the family of Ellis at this devastating time and we are urging the driver of the white van to come and speak to us.

“I want to stress that we do not think this van driver was the cause of the collision, but that they may have witnessed what happened.”

Anyone with information can call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101; quoting log number 2845 of 9 September. Alternatively contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am to midnight. Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
