West Midlands Police have launched an investigation after a teenager was hit with a hammer during a violent robbery in a park in Perry Barr.
The 16-year-old is believed to have been approached by a group of up to five masked men in Perry Park off Church Road, Perry Barr between 4.15-4:30pm yesterday (12/05).
He was struck by a hammer and baseball bat as cash and mobile phone were stolen from him. The teen was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition.
An 18-year-old girl was also punched to the face as she tried to intervene.
Sergeant Dave Bebb, from force CID, said: “This was a nasty attack which has left a boy with very serious injuries.
“Officers are actively seeking to identify those involved and I would urge anyone who can assist with our enquiries to come forward.”
