Independent Birmingham announces its first ever awards ceremony

-

Independent Birmingham was launched in 2013, with a mission to champion the very best of Birmingham’s independent businesses. Businesses join the scheme and offer discounts or deals to members of the public who buy a membership card. Now, Independent Birmingham has grown into a multi-platform celebration of Birmingham, with the card, a website and festivals.

This year, Independent Birmingham has announced that they will host their very own awards for the first time. Due to take place in September, the awards will be different from your average corporate awards do, and instead will continue the work of the rest of the scheme; celebrating indie businesses and the best ambassadors for Birmingham.

Judged categories will give out awards including Best Cocktail Bar, Best Online Business and Best Live Music Venue. Other categories will celebrate rising stars, Brummie legends and golden oldie businesses.

The public will be able to vote for other awards categories, such as Best Pint, Best Social Media Account and Best Scotch Egg.

Nominations are open now and will close at the end of May. The awards will take place on 9 September at The Custard Factory in Digbeth.
