The Jewellery Quarter (JQ) Festival returns from 20 to 22 July 2018

-

The JQ Festival is a celebration of all things Jewellery Quarter, bringing together local businesses, residents and communities for a three-day extravaganza showcasing the very best of the Quarter.

From 20 to 22 July 2018 the JQ Festival will come to life with performances, workshops, tours and activities across the area and within three main hubs:

  • The Golden Square
  • St Paul’s Square
  • JQ Makers Hub (delivered by Quartermasters– A pop-up shop and showcase of the diverse Jewellery Quarter makers from paper, leather, virtual reality, furniture, and jewellery. )

Events range from ‘Painted Acrylic Jewellery Workshop’ with Frilly Industries exhibiting a free-form painted acrylic jewellery workshop where you can explore colour and mark make your own design to make a unique pair of earrings, necklace or bracelet of your choice. To a performance by The Beat Brothers at the Jam House, a professional four piece of musicians, who play a funky & upbeat collection of classic soul and current faves. They really are a joy and know how to party!

There is even a ‘Homebrew’ Demo at 1000 Trades where you can find out just how easy it is to brew delicious beer in your own home in exactly the same way as commercial breweries. In conjunction with Birmingham Amateur Brewers.

You’ll not be short of food choices either. Stan’s Case will be presenting a history of Birmingham’s Balti Bowl. For the first time in over 20 years, Birmingham’s iconic Balti bowls are now being made once again in the city where the Balti phenomenon first started. The Birmingham Balti Bowl Company commissioned these bowls, uniquely engraved, from long-established manufacturer AE Harris based in the heart of Birmingham’s Historic Jewellery Quarter.

The programme (including the JQ Festival map) can be downloaded here. There is something for everyone and all ages are welcome! There are loads of events and are all listed here.
